Troy Schmidt

Troy Schmidt began writing for TV in Los Angeles in 1985 for such animated series as Dennis the Menace, Heathcliff, Flintstone Kids. In 1992, he moved to Orlando to write for The Mickey Mouse Club, on staff for three seasons, writing for the likes of Justin Timerberlake, Ryan Gosling, Britney Spears, Keri Russell and Christina Aguilera. He wrote for three Disney holiday parades on ABC, a Disney Animal Kingdom show and for the Hard Rock Café website as the Managing Content Editor.

He adapted a Max Lucado children’s book, Hermie The Common Caterpillar, into a home video. After its success, he helped to create and write all the Hermie videos for Tommy Nelson and over twenty different books. In 2008, Troy directed two hours of video for a Bible based CD/ROM entitled iLumina Gold, traveling to Israel and following the footsteps of Jesus. He returned to Israel years later for a three-and-half hour documentary called In His Shoes appearing on the GLO Bible software as the writer and host.

Troy was a Producer for the GSN game show The American Bible Challenge starring Jeff Foxworthy, working on the pilot and all three seasons. He has written a daily devotional associated with the series called “The American Bible Challenge Daily Reader, Volume 1” (Thomas Nelson) and the board game based on the show (Talicor). He has written five children’s books in the “Their Side of the Story” collection (B&H) a lighthearted look on the animals' perspective of famous stories from the Bible and a children’s Christmas story, “Little Tree Found,” about a tree rescued by a Father and Son at Christmas time.

Troy partnered with the Kendrick Brothers to write a teen prayer journal called “This Means War” based on the highly successful War Room movie. He has released three titles in “The 100 Best Bible Verses” series with Baker Books and two Bible trivia books with over 6,000 questions from Broadstreet. Bethany House released his "Bible Trivia, Jokes and Fun Facts for Kids" which mixes fascinating facts from the Bible with lighthearted knock-knock jokes into one book. In 2019, Troy releases his book, “Fish Sandwiches” about God’s promises and miraculous blessings and works on a teen boys book about identity in Christ based on the new film from the Kendrick brothers, Overcomer.

Troy lives in Windermere, Florida with his wife where he is the Campus Pastor at First Baptist Church of Windermere.
